SEND After School, and School Holiday Arts Workshops
We run four services, 52 weeks of the year for children and young people with complex physical/ neurological disabilities and those with learning difficulties. These services include SEND holiday programs, SEND after school groups for 5-18 year olds, SEND day groups for young adults with learning disabilities and our Child/Teen Bereavement programs also are adapted to include those with SEND. We provide a safe, sociable and inclusive environment for these young people to come together: we encourage friendships and peer support where for service users to identify can with one other. Our creative services have proven to change a vulnerable individuals life by providing a sense of ownership, enhanced functionality, a boost in individuality, attention to detail, and deep satisfaction. We have found that the tailored nature of these programs, to an individual's needs and preferences, makes them feel valued, seen, and understood, which can significantly boost their self-esteem and emotional well-being. When something is uniquely crafted for an individual, it fosters a sense of ownership and pride. It becomes a representation of their identity and taste. This sense of ownership can enhance their confidence as they feel a strong connection to experience. When individuals have tools or solutions that meet their specific needs, it can empower them and increase their confidence in handling tasks or challenges. We pride ourselves in multi-disciplinary working, sharing relevant lessons and outcomes with the individuals wider care team, to help strengthen their overall care. Cathartic provides any personal / medical care needs so that the CYP can attend independently, without the need for a carer to come along with them. This has had a huge impact on users and parents alike: going somewhere independently makes the CYP feel a sense of control and gives them a sense of normality and for parents/ carers, it is complete respite. “There are so few places for people with special needs, especially complex needs like my daughter, so it makes this place even more special.
