At Cathartic Arts CIC, our Autism and Me workshops provide a safe, creative space for children and young people to explore their understanding of autism—both in themselves and in the world around them.
This is not a clinical programme or a classroom-based intervention. It is a thoughtful, creative space where young people can ask questions, express themselves, and begin to make sense of their own experiences in a way that feels natural and accessible.
Using a range of art forms, participants are supported to explore themes such as:
Creative work allows young people to express thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to put into words, giving them a sense of ownership over their voice and experience.
Our workshops are carefully designed to feel calm, structured, and predictable, while still allowing space for freedom and creativity. We offer:
We understand that every young person’s experience of autism is different, and our sessions reflect that—there is no expectation to share, perform, or engage in a particular way.
Through the programme, young people are supported to:
Importantly, we focus on recognising strengths as well as challenges, helping young people to see autism as part of who they are—not something that defines their limits.
Our team brings both creative and pastoral expertise, ensuring that sessions are delivered with sensitivity, awareness, and consistency. We work closely within appropriate boundaries to create an environment where young people feel respected, understood, and supported.
Autism and Me is about creating the opportunity for young people to explore who they are, in their own way, without pressure or expectation.
We believe that when young people are given the right environment, they can begin to understand themselves more clearly—and that understanding is a powerful foundation for confidence, wellbeing, and growth.
