Cathartic’s core belief is that enriching people's lives through imaginative art programs has a positive impact on health and wellbeing. At Cathartic, we have a large fully inclusive, friendly and vibrant workshop space, where we offer stimulating and sociable creative programs to boost self-esteem, inspire confidence, promote independence and artistic ability. We feel passionately that every person deserves to feel self-worth and to have a purpose - this is our priority. Through creative workshops, Cathartic works with people to improve their overall wellbeing, to support building peer social networks and nurture a variety of knowledge and skills; creatively, sociably and educationally. Our users are able to freely access and take part in everything we design, where they can achieve, no matter what their ability is. Participants do not have to be naturally creative to take part and come along. Programs offer bespoke activities that meet the varied needs/interests of the group, encouraging progress with personal outcomes. Workshops are innovative, varied and hands-on, designed to be accessible for everyone: adapting equipment, materials, support and delivery to individuals attending. This encourages service users to access tasks as independently as possible, reducing reliance on assistance. Through the magic of creative art, we strive to empower people to understand their worth.
Workshop sessions run for 3 hours, term-time only, at our creative art studio in Watford.
We offer an initial taster session and if participants want to continue, they will be required to commit for the term, or rest of the term if joining part way through. Cathartic's Day Opportunities are an approved HCC Adult Care Service on the Ebrokerage, funded through direct payments (which can be allocated by social workers to those with SEND) or can be privately funded. We charge in line with the current standard direct payment hourly rate in the local area, with a £5 additional contribution per session for materials and refreshments.
Sessions days and times are:
Monday 10am-1pm
Wednesday 10am-1pm and/or 2pm-5pm
Friday 10am-1pm
If participants would like to stay for both sessions on a Wednesday, they are welcome to stay in the studio for the lunch hour at the normal hourly rate. Packed lunches are required and supervision will be provided.
